2) Do your genealogical research on your ancestors and follow the lines as far back as possible.
With all the resources available in the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, we have the necessary tools to help you trace your genealogy back in time as far as there are records.
If you have not already done this, follow the Getting Started page (on the left) and send us the necessary information. Also send us copies of any other historical documents you have that might be helpful for us.
When doing extensive research on your lines, we usually work in segment of ten hours at a time. After each ten hour segment, we will send you a report about our findings and discuss the prospect for further results. Because this kind of research involves many different kinds of records from different times periods, it is impossible to tell beforehand how much research (and thereby time) will be involved to complete this kind of project.
Included in our report to you, we will send filled out pedigree sheet and family group sheets with information that has been checked and any other historical information we can find about your ancestors.
Also, if you would like, we can send copies of the original film entries with translation; usually only done on your direst ancestors (the names that will appear on your pedigree chart).
Please send completed questionnaire, a pedigree and at least family group sheets for the family that will be the “end” family (on your pedigree) that you know anything about. Also, please include any other documents you might have that pertain to your genealogy.
Report is sent after payment is received. Depending upon the availability of the records, a report can be expected after six to eight weeks.
Payment can be made with personal check, money order or by credit card. A remittance of at least half of the payment is required before research will start. The rest of the amount is due when the report is received.
